I am 46. I have never lied about my age (well, since I was 21, anyhow!)
I am proud of my age. I have some silver hairs, and I am proud of those as well. I’ve earned them, fair and square. They represent stress conquered, and a life lived. While I do dye my hair on occasion, I do so because I like the red color, not because I want to hide the white. If I could dye my hair and keep the few silver ones, I would.
Yes, I have wrinkles. Having wrinkles, in fact, shows me that I’ve lost weight. They show me I’ve laughed and cried, and lived my life with joy and gusto.
What, truly, is the reason for life? Is it to have a lovely corpse, unsullied by the marks of life? Or is it to slide into that final parking space, and say, what a hell of a ride!
So, go out, laugh at a joke, enjoy a movie, go cross something off your bucket list. Why work every day for a better tomorrow, if you aren’t certain when tomorrow will be? A better retirement, when your bones are too weak to walk around Europe? Have some fun in your life now!
