When Elle meets Alex in a nightclub, it’s love at first sight for both of them. He’s just finished his naval aviation training to fly combat and cargo planes, and is due to go onto the aircraft carrier he’s been assigned, which is headed to the war in Korea in six weeks. Their instant love is undeniable so they decide to get married before he leaves.
When Elle learns Alex’s plane has been shot down, and he stops emailing her, she knows something is wrong and flies to Korea for more information.
Will he make it out of Korea alive? How will Elle overcome her husband being missing in action?
Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from?
I’m from Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. I’m the mother of two school age children and run my own small Bookkeeping business.
Another accountant author! We are few and far between! How would you generally categorize the books/stories you write?
My books generally have a romantic theme mixed in with a sub genre. I like to think of them as adult fairytales. Boy meets girls, there is a conflict then boy and girl live happily ever after.
What inspired you to write this book?
It is the fifth book in a series. It is the daughter from the first book Rich Girl. I enjoyed writing about their parents so much that I wrote one about Elle. I also am a sucker for a man in uniform so decided to make the leading man a naval pilot.
How did you come up with the title?
It was originally titled Fly Boy because that is the nickname used for naval pilots. It was changed to Fly Girl as the it is the theme for The Saucy Girls series. Rich Girl, Fire Girl, Model Girl, Cop Girl and Fly Girl.
Was there much research involved?
I had to do lots of research for this book. About the navy and their pilots. I had to research the planes used. I also had to do a lot of research on South Korea where a lot of the book is set.
Do you have a set writing routine?
No. I would love to try and write this way, have time allocated to sit and write. My mind doesn’t seem to work that way though and I can only write when the muse is calling.
What do you like least about writing?
Editing. Reading the work over and over again until I just about know every word is time consuming and cuts into writing time. It has to be done though but I do it reluctantly!
Editing is my own bane as well! Name a few titles I’d find if I browsed through your personal library.
Apart of The Saucy Girl series mentioned about I have two other published books, American Woman and The Chosen One.
Name a few of your favorite non-writing activities.
I love to read. I’m also a trained florist so I like preparing flower arrangements.
