Please. Stop the hate and the killing.

I don’t normally go political on my blog. I like the happy world of travel, magic, writing and art. But sometimes one must speak out against the hatred.
We live in a scary world. Most of us want to hide our heads in the sand and forget the evil is out there. I wish I could on many days, but if we all do this, then the evil will run rampant and be free to do as it wishes.
I didn’t create the meme below. I prefer to use IS rather than blaspheme the name of a perfectly innocent Goddess. And they misspelled a couple of things. And yet, it is a perfectly valid sentiment.
I am concerned that innocent people are dying, and we are doing nothing to prevent it. I don’t care if they are Muslim, Christian, Pagan, Atheist, or Pastafarians. They are HUMAN. They are our people. They are souls. They are innocent. Evil men are terrorizing the world. Shall we sit by and do nothing while evil men take control of our cities?

I don’t know what the solution may be, and I certainly have no political power. But if each of us stops the HATE within our own little circle, the ripples of that outporing of love must help. So, stop thinking that your neighbor is up to something because they have darker skin and are acting strange. Go and offer to help if you think something is wrong. Bring some chicken soup. Offer to watch the dog while they go on vacation. Hold a block party.
Volunteer for your local do-gooder institution, be it a soup kitchen, an outreach program, or Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Become part of your community. The more people you meet, the more you can help.
If we still had close-knit communities, much of this paranoia would be more difficult to exploit. If there is one thing that most churches excel at is community. Get involved with SOMETHING. An arts council. A gaming group. It’s all about knowing others outside your family, outside your monkey-sphere.
Let us counter the hate-mongering (much of it by our own presidential candidates) with LOVE-MONGERING. Monger that love for all it’s worth. Spread that stuff around like glitter on a stripper. Sprinkle it everywhere. It’s free, it’s catching, and it’s necessary.
It’s what keeps this world going with life.

Bestselling author (top #100 Amazon Canada, #1 in Paranormal Fantasy, Amazon Canada) Christy Nicholas, also known as Green Dragon, is an author, artist and accountant. After she failed to become an airline pilot, she quit her ceaseless pursuit of careers that begin with 'A', and decided to concentrate on her writing. Since she has Project Completion Disorder, she is one of the few authors with NO unfinished novels. Christy has her hands in many crafts, including digital art, beaded jewelry, writing, and photography. In real life, she's a CPA, but having grown up with art all around her (her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother are/were all artists), it sort of infected her, as it were. She wants to expose the incredible beauty in this world, hidden beneath the everyday grime of familiarity and habit, and share it with others. She uses characters out of time and places infused with magic and myth. Combine this love of beauty with a bit of financial sense and you get an art business. She does local art and craft shows, as well as sending her art to various science fiction conventions throughout the country and abroad. 1. I’m so glad you posted this. Every once in awhile it’s brought up that more Muslims have died at the hands of these terror groups but it always seems to be dropped rather quickly. It’s chilling to see the actual statistics. And I like your idea of “love mongering”. I think this would work far better than closing our borders or patrolling Muslim neighborhoods.

Here are some chilling statistics from Green Dragon Artist on how many Muslims are dying at the hands of terrorists, yet the media and politicians don’t seem to want to talk about this. Instead they’re more interested in stoking the flames of fear and hatred. “Love-Mongering”. Pass it on!

Things with the Islamic State are getting worse, but one important (and often neglected) way of fighting evil is by fighting it within ourselves and our own communities. Maybe we can’t put a stop to the Islamic State directly, but we can at least fight like hell to keep our own side of the world from burning. And the first step is to be good to your family, your neighborhood, your town, your state, your nation, etc. Ma’at is the only suitable weapon against isfet.
