Meet Esme, heroine of Legacy of Truth

West70

Legacy of Hunger, the tale of Valentia McDowell and her journey to Ireland in 1846, came out in October 2015. Near the end of the tale, you meet Esme Doherty Fitzgerald, her grandmamma’s sister.

Legacy of Truth, the prequel, is slated for publication on June 15, 2016.

Discover the tale of Esme as a young girl and as a grown woman woman, still finding her own way in the harsh realities of surviving as a poor farmer, wife and mother in early 19th century Ireland.

What is your characters name?  Esme was born in 1773 into a family of three girls, and has a twin named Eithne. She is raised on a small farm in Ardara, County Donegal, in Ireland.  She is painfully conscious of her family’s fragile situation of sustenance living, and does all she can to help with the family farm.

What does your character look like? She has red, curly and often unruly, hair, freckles and blue eyes. She is quite short as an adult, just five feet tall.

Where does your character go when she’s upset? She likes to escape her family, and especially her sister. She runs to the ancient fairy stones, a circle of standings stones up on a hill. It’s a lonely place with tall grasses and the occasional sheep.

Who should play your character if your book were made into a movie? I think Felicia Day would do well as Esme when she is an adult. She has a sweet but tentative quality that fits Esme’s personality nicely.

What makes your character special?  Esme is a woman that is thrown around by life at first, but she finally learns to fight against the vagaries of fate. Part of that is due to her mastery of a magical talisman, a brooch that was passed down through her family.

Celtic Fairies, Fables, and Folklore! Bestselling author (top #100 Amazon Canada, #1 in Paranormal Fantasy, Amazon Canada) Christy Nicholas, also known as Green Dragon, is an author, artist and accountant. After she failed to become an airline pilot, she quit her ceaseless pursuit of careers that begin with 'A', and decided to concentrate on her writing. Since she has Project Completion Disorder, she is one of the few authors with NO unfinished novels. Christy has her hands in many crafts, including digital art, beaded jewelry, writing, and photography. In real life, she's a CPA, but having grown up with art all around her (her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother are/were all artists), it sort of infected her, as it were. She wants to expose the incredible beauty in this world, hidden beneath the everyday grime of familiarity and habit, and share it with others. She uses characters out of time and places infused with magic and myth. Combine this love of beauty with a bit of financial sense and you get an art business. She does local art and craft shows, as well as sending her art to various science fiction conventions throughout the country and abroad.
