After a four-month hiatus (though I was already 2/3 through) I finally finished the first draft of Misfortune of Vision, Book 4 from The Druid’s Brooch Series.
Now I get to go through and edit, and edit, and edit some more. Yay, me!
This one is a bit shorter than the other books in the series. It’s clocking in around 70,000 words, as opposed to 100,000. That’s all I needed for the story to be told, evidently. I like this story a lot đŸ˜€
Now I have to figure out a good blurb… that’s a hard task!
Misfotune of Vision is set in 12th century Ireland.
Orla is a Seer. She must give the king a Prophecy, but all she sees is war, death and destruction in the coming years, and he doesn’t want to hear it. Disgusted with his apathy, she goes off on her own quest, to find an heir for her magical brooch. She finds a great deal more than she expects.
OR
Amidst war and prophecy, Orla must find her own legacy before she can help others.
OR
Orla must choose between a trecherous Fae lord and her own cowardly king.
Which is your favorite? Or do you have other suggestions?
*****
I like them all. How about a combination? Maybe something like:
Amidst war and prophecy, Orla must fulfill her own quest – to find the heir for her magical brooch. Only then will she be able to face (make?) the hardest decision of her life.
Congrats on getting the first draft done!

I’ve refined it and added some details:
In 12th century Ireland, Orla has been Seer to her king for forty years. He doesn’t want to hear her Prophecies of war and destruction, so she runs off to fulfill her own quest, to find a worthy heir for her magical brooch. She must pass judgment on a thief, escape a Norman war camp, and battle wits with a Fae lord.
In the end, she must decide the fate of those she loves.

Are you open to another tweak? If she is 40+ years old, “runs off” sounds beneath her. Maybe something like “determines”, “embarks on a journey to”…
I am so excited for you.
