via Folklore of Little Christmas
Today is Little christmas/the feast of the epiphany. A few small snippets of Irish folklore relating to the traditions associated with the day taken from the National Folklore Schools collection.
It is also known in many parts as “womens little christmas” or “Nollaig na mBan” where the men traditionally did all the house work. It is still celebrated as such in some areas and is a popular night for women to go out drinking in groups
