Why share things that people do wrong? Why make them viral?
Because, the more people who see it, the more people realize that not only are these actions reprehensible, but that there ARE consequences to these actions, even if there haven’t been consequences in the past.
If someone goes on a racist rant, and the video goes viral, their employer may fire them. That might teach others that this is WRONG and keep them from doing it. It won’t erase their racist thoughts, but it will help to limit outright racist actions.
If police beat someone up and the video goes viral, and their department doesn’t do an investigation, THAT goes viral as well. It might teach the department that these things can no longer be swept under the rug. If the dept does do an investigation, it might teach the other police that this is NOT ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR.
Since the systems that should have kept watch on these things have failed in their duties, it’s up to us, as the public, to shine lights upon the darkness and reveal the truth.
