This cover has lovely art, very evocative and intriguing. The simple font works well, especially with the delightful dagger as the T in Agatha. Red is the primary color here, except for her blue eyes, which pop out. The mischievous smile is perfect, and the slight glint to her rosary just adds to the intrigue.

While this cover is pretty typical of urban fantasy or paranormal novels, I love the details that come out as exceptional, such as the strong title font and the raptor in the background. Again, a limited color scheme – golds and blues – are strong and not overwhelming, like many paranormal covers can be.

Many cozy mysteries have a similar look. Typically, they feature a cartoon woman, possibly with a cat, a tray of cupcakes, and/or a witch’s hat. However, this one still gives the feel of a cozy mystery without resorting to the tired cover tropes. Again, the limited color palette, yellow/gold with a splash of purple, works well. Details such as the champagne bubble background and the filigree corners highlight the tone and the setting as a New Years Eve Party.

Love Sister Agatha…..
