Simple doesn’t have to mean boring. This cover uses that famous limited color pallete and an intriguing icon symbol with appropriate fonts to create an intriguing, strong cover. Now, I think the gilt on the edge frame and the title are a little over-the-top, but as it’s a new adult fantasy series, I can let that slide. I’d like a little more contrast on the center symbol, maybe a sparkle of light or something, but it still works over all, a lush, regal design in line with the title.
