Sometimes illustrated covers work, sometimes they don’t. This one is so compelling, it makes me want to grab the book, despite the fact that I’m not a huge Young Adult fan. I love the butterfly motif in the imagery, the stylized artwork hinting at birds, the faces, the flames, just incredible. The color scheme is simple enough to stay iconic. If the colors were more intense, I think it would lose it’s appeal a bit. My only quibbles are the flames licking into the word “Daughter”, and the barely legible tagline between the title words, which are especially difficult to see in thumbnail. Also, I’m never a huge fan of stickers obscuring the cover.
